This past Friday's Paul Melley concert with BLDE was really wonderful. We'll have the pieces in our Easter repertory at some point soon.
You can now view Knot/Not I in our repertoire section. Special thanks to Bill Parsons for his video work on this piece from the BC Rising UP faculty dance concert.

For the past few weeks we have been preparing for Paul Melley's concert of his new music from the CD God is Love. I've choreographed 4 new pieces and we will also dance his Take Lord, Receive. All are invited to a wonderful celebration of the Easter Season with Paul's music and dancers from the BLDE.
May 4th 7:30 St Ignatius Church As you probably know, our company work tends to be very seasonal. Well it's that season again! Ordinarily we are busy in preparation for Lenten Evening Prayer, Palm Sunday, Good Friday and Easter vigil services. This season has been unique in that I have created a performance piece "Knot, Not I" for the Rising Up dance showcase in the Robsham theater tonight and tomorrow (march 30/31). The piece which explore the relationship between Jesus and his disciples at the time of the Passion particularly focuses on the character of Judas. Judas is danced by a spectacular Jamaican dancer, Steven Cornwall. I am delighted with the piece and hope to have available for viewing after the performance.
Also coming up is a concert of Paul Melley's new works for God is Love. That's going to take place Friday May 4th. Will begin working on that right after Easter. And of course we have the Palm Sunday liturgies this weekend as well as Good Friday and the Easter Vigil. Busy time! We had a remarkable season of Christmas Reflections! i still can hardly believe that we had almost 100 performers on the Robsham stage this year! There's a picture of the Twelve Days of Christmas on the site that gives you a sense of the numbers. (There were an additional 30 Irish Step dancers!) I'm including a link to photos and we hope to have some video available in the near future. Blessings for Christmas! http://gallery.me.com/robertvereecke/100106
Father Bob talks about the origin and growth of Christmas Reflections, from a small production meant to "continue the tradition [of a Dancer's Christmas] in a simpler way" through the incorporation of two additional dance companies resulting in this year's production showcasing a cast with more than twice as many performers. Easier this year than it has been for the past 30 years. You can now buy tickets online for Christmas Reflections:
Go to: www.bc.edu/offices/robsham/tickets.html Select: Buy Tickets Online > Buy Tickets > Special I haven't had a chance to write since we began the rehearsal process two weeks ago. I was away on retreat this past weekend so I'm looking forward to seeing how things are going. We are fortunate to have some of our regulars back again this year. Jon Arpino will be dancing the role of Joseph. Luisa Donovan who began dancing with the company when she was 8 years old will be dancing the role of Mary. It is so lovely to see what a beautiful dancer Luisa has become and how much faith and love she brings to this part. Again we have a wonderful cast of Angels, Shepherds and a whole host of children, teens, and BC students and alumni. Will try to
This past Saturday we began the auditioning process for Christmas Reflections. We have a very large cast this year, especially with the addition of dancers from Joanna Duncan's studio. I was delighted to see so many lovely new dancers who want to be a part of the show this year.
By the way, tickets for Christmas Reflections go on sale beginning October 3rd through the Robsham Theater Box office. They now have online ticketing www.bc.edu/offices/robsham/tickets.html. We're in the process of putting together a cast for this year's production of Christmas Reflections which will be presented in the Robsham Theater at Boston College on the weekend of December 16-18. Auditions are being held on September 24th from 9:30 - 11 for children and from 11:00-1PM for advanced dancers. If you are interested in auditioning you can contact me at frvereec@bc.edu
This past summer we had wonderful two week workshop at BC. In the mornings we worked on some choreography for Paul Melley's new works. We're hoping to do some more throughout the year. The afternoon session brought together folks who just love to dance. We worked on Michael Joncas' Come to the Feast for the closing liturgy of the STM summer program. Joncas happened to be there himself and sang the piece. It was a wonderful preparation of gifts and can be viewed on the website. Soon we'll be gearing up for auditions and rehearsals of Christmas Reflections. More to come
